IGI Certification & Serial Number Included
Each ring ships with the IGI (International Gemological Institute) certificate for the center stone and a unique serial number, documenting the diamond's 4Cs grading (color, clarity, cut, carat weight) and confirming lab-grown origin. The IGI certificate is your independent third-party verification of the stone's specifications, and the standard documentation required by jewelry insurance providers to schedule the ring on a policy. The certification number is laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle (microscopic, visible under magnification) to tie the physical stone to the document.
Top-Tier Diamond Specifications
D Color — the most desirable color grade for white diamond. Completely colorless, no perceptible yellow or brown tint. Top of the GIA/IGI color scale.
VVS Clarity — Very, Very Slightly Included. Inclusions extremely difficult to detect even under 10x magnification by a trained gemologist. Eye-clean by an enormous margin; only Internally Flawless and Flawless are higher.
D color + VVS clarity is at the top tier of diamond specification — significantly above the grades most lab-grown diamond engagement rings use.
About the IGI-certified lab-grown diamond center
The center stone is a real diamond — same chemistry (pure carbon in the diamond crystal structure), same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale, the hardest gemstone), same optical properties as a natural mined diamond. The only difference is controlled laboratory origin rather than mining. Lab-grown diamond is produced using either chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or high pressure high temperature (HPHT) growth — the resulting crystal is chemically and structurally identical to a natural mined diamond.
This diamond is specified at the top tier of the 4Cs: D color (completely colorless), VVS clarity (inclusions extremely difficult to detect even under magnification), Asscher cut (graded Excellent), 6×6mm, approximately 1.5 carats, and Mohs 10 hardness — the hardest gemstone available, ideal for daily wear. It ships with an IGI certificate and unique serial number.
Why the Asscher cut suits a diamond especially well
The Asscher cut is a square step cut with cropped corners and concentric step facets that draw the eye into the stone, creating a distinctive "hall of mirrors" effect. Unlike brilliant cuts that maximize sparkle through many small facets, the Asscher's long open step facets emphasize the clarity, transparency, and depth of the stone.
This makes the Asscher cut a demanding showcase that rewards a high-clarity, high-color stone: because the step facets are long and open, any inclusions or color tint would be more visible than in a brilliant cut. At D color and VVS clarity, this diamond has the clarity and colorlessness to carry the Asscher cut beautifully — the step facets show off a crystalline, transparent, icy-white stone with the dramatic flashes of light the Asscher is known for. The Asscher was developed in 1902 and became the signature diamond cut of the art deco era, so a D VVS diamond Asscher is the most period-authentic and most demanding version of this vintage design.
Why IGI certification matters
IGI (International Gemological Institute) is one of the major independent gemological laboratories, alongside GIA and AGS, and the dominant certifier of lab-grown diamonds. The certification provides three concrete benefits: third-party verification (the stone's specifications are independently confirmed by gemologists with no commercial interest in the ring), insurance scheduling (most jewelry insurers require a written gemological certificate to schedule a ring on a policy), and resale documentation (the certificate validates the stone's grading independently in the secondary market). The certificate and unique serial number ship with the ring, and the certification number is laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle to tie the physical stone to the document.
Lab-grown diamond vs natural mined diamond
Both are real diamond — same chemistry, hardness, and optical properties. The differences are origin and price. Lab-grown diamond is created in months under controlled conditions, and is significantly more accessible than natural mined diamond at the same grade — often 30–60% of the equivalent natural stone's price at this carat size. Natural mined diamond forms over billions of years; the price premium reflects mining scarcity, cultural significance, and a more established resale market. For buyers who want a real diamond at the top tier of 4Cs specifications without the natural-mined price tag, lab-grown is the practical choice. If you want natural mined diamond instead, we can quote it as a custom upgrade with GIA certification.
Honest disclosure on resale value: the lab-grown diamond resale market is younger and less developed than the natural mined diamond resale market, so lab-grown stones typically don't hold resale value as strongly as natural mined diamonds of equivalent grade. The lab-grown resale market is growing as it matures, and IGI-certified stones command higher resale than uncertified ones. The certificate accompanying this ring meaningfully supports any future resale or insurance purposes.
About the all-diamond art deco halo
The center Asscher diamond is framed by a geometric vintage halo of lab-grown diamond accents — prominent round diamonds at the compass points (12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock), pavé diamond filling the octagonal frame between them, and milgrain detail on the bezel and halo frame (the fine beaded metalwork edge that's a signature of art deco and Edwardian jewelry). The octagonal halo geometry echoes the Asscher's cropped-corner square shape for a coherent geometric composition.
All halo accents are real lab-grown diamond, color-matched to the center (D color) and SI clarity or better. This creates a unified all-diamond composition: every white stone in the ring is real diamond, with consistent brilliance and the maximum Mohs 10 durability throughout — a meaningful upgrade over rings that pair a diamond center with moissanite or CZ accents.
Solid 14K white gold — the heirloom tier
"Solid gold" means the entire ring is gold alloy throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core. 14K white gold is gold alloyed with palladium and other white metals for a cool bright white tone, hard enough for daily wear, built to last indefinitely. A solid 14K white gold ring doesn't need replating, doesn't wear through, and holds resale and inheritance value. The cool bright white metal lets the colorless diamond and white-on-white art deco palette read crisp and luminous. Available in 14K white gold (this listing default), 14K yellow gold, or 14K rose gold on request; 18K upgrades available at additional cost.
How to wear it
- Engagement ring — the primary role. The IGI-certified D VVS lab-grown diamond center + all-diamond halo + solid 14K white gold makes this a full heirloom-tier classical engagement ring with vintage art deco character
- Promise or anniversary ring — the substantial ~1.5ct Asscher center and full diamond halo give the ring the presence of a major commitment piece
- Anniversary heirloom gift — particularly appropriate for major anniversaries (10th, 20th, 25th, 50th). The vintage design with documented diamond grading makes this a generational gift
- Right-hand statement ring — the vintage art deco glamour works as a non-bridal statement piece
- Classical diamond bridal in vintage style — for couples who want full diamond classical bridal in a period-authentic art deco design rather than generic modern diamond bridal
A matching wedding band can be custom made to order — message us before ordering. The ring also stacks well with a plain thin band, a pavé/eternity band that echoes the halo, or a vintage-style milgrain band that echoes the art deco detailing. Match in 14K white gold for a unified stack.

Sizing & care
Available in sizes 3–10 (US). Larger and smaller sizes are available on request — priced upon request. Half and quarter sizes available. Sizing can vary slightly between jewelers and mandrels — up to half a size — so if you've been sized recently elsewhere, check our sizing guide before ordering or message us for a complimentary ring sizer. Complimentary engraving is included, up to 16 characters.
Lab-grown diamond is the hardest gemstone available — Mohs 10 — suitable for daily wear including ultrasonic cleaning. All stones throughout (center + halo) are lab-grown diamond at Mohs 10, so there's no soft accent stone to scratch or cloud. Solid 14K white gold doesn't need replating and holds its tone indefinitely. Clean with warm water and a soft brush; ultrasonic cleaning is fine for the diamonds (the metal prefers gentler care). Avoid harsh chemicals (chlorine, bleach, ammonia) as general best practice. Store the ring separately so the prongs, halo, and milgrain detail don't catch on other pieces. Keep the IGI certificate with your insurance paperwork.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a real diamond?
Yes — real lab-grown diamond. Genuine diamond (pure carbon, diamond crystal structure), with the same chemistry, same hardness (Mohs 10, the hardest gemstone), and same optical properties as a natural mined diamond. The only difference is controlled laboratory origin. It is not moissanite, not cubic zirconia, and not a simulated diamond. It's real diamond, just lab-grown.
What does IGI certified mean?
IGI (International Gemological Institute) is one of the major independent gemological laboratories. IGI certification means the diamond's specifications (color, clarity, cut, carat weight) have been independently graded by IGI gemologists with no commercial interest in the ring. The certificate and a unique serial number ship with the ring, and the certification number is laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle (microscopic, visible under magnification) to tie the physical stone to the document. IGI is the dominant certifier of lab-grown diamonds.
What does D color VVS mean?
Top-tier diamond specifications. D color is the most desirable color grade for white diamond — completely colorless. VVS clarity means Very, Very Slightly Included — inclusions extremely difficult to detect even under 10x magnification, eye-clean by an enormous margin. Only Internally Flawless (IF) and Flawless (FL) are higher clarity grades.
Why is the Asscher cut especially demanding (and rewarding) for a diamond?
The Asscher's long, open step facets emphasize clarity, transparency, and depth — which means inclusions or color tint would be more visible than in a brilliant cut. At D color and VVS clarity, this diamond has the colorlessness and clarity to carry the Asscher cut beautifully: the step facets show off a crystalline, transparent, icy-white stone with dramatic flashes of light. A high-grade diamond is the most period-authentic version of this art deco design.
What is an Asscher cut?
A square step cut with cropped corners (subtle octagonal outline) and concentric step facets creating a "hall of mirrors" effect. Developed in 1902 by the Asscher Brothers of Holland, it became the signature diamond cut of the art deco era (1920s–1930s). Emphasizes clarity and depth with dramatic flashes of light. The quintessential vintage / art deco engagement ring shape.
How does lab-grown diamond compare to natural mined diamond visually?
Visually indistinguishable to the unaided eye. Same chemistry, hardness, and optical properties (brilliance, fire, scintillation). Even trained gemologists need specialized equipment to reliably distinguish lab-grown from natural mined at high grades. Identical visual experience, durability, and daily-wear behavior.
What's the price difference vs natural mined diamond?
Lab-grown diamonds at any given 4Cs grade typically cost 30–60% of the equivalent natural mined stone's price at this carat size. Reflects production scale, no mining costs, and faster supply expansion in the lab-grown market. For top-tier specs (D color, VVS clarity, certified) at an accessible price, lab-grown is the practical choice.
Will lab-grown diamond hold its value?
Honest answer: the lab-grown resale market is younger and less developed than the natural mined diamond resale market, so lab-grown stones typically don't hold resale value as strongly. The market is growing rapidly as it matures, and IGI-certified lab-grown stones command higher resale than uncertified. The certificate accompanying this ring meaningfully supports future resale or insurance purposes.
Can I upgrade to natural mined diamond?
Yes, at significant additional cost. Lab-grown is the default for top-grade specs at accessible pricing. Natural mined diamond at equivalent 4Cs grade would significantly increase the price (typically 2-3x at this carat size). Available as a custom upgrade with GIA certification — message us before ordering.
Are the halo accents also real diamond?
Yes — all halo and accent stones are real lab-grown diamond, color-matched to the center (D color) and SI clarity or better. This creates a unified all-diamond composition: every white stone in the ring is real diamond, with consistent brilliance and maximum Mohs 10 durability throughout — a meaningful upgrade over rings pairing a diamond center with moissanite or CZ accents.
How big is the center stone?
6.0 × 6.0 mm Asscher cut, approximately 1.5 carats. With the vintage halo framing the center, the overall ring face reads substantially larger than the center stone alone — the halo adds visual size and presence.
Is this ring solid gold or gold plated?
Solid 14K white gold throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core. Built to last a lifetime, never needs replating, holds resale and inheritance value.
How durable is the ring for daily wear?
Exceptional. All stones throughout (center + halo) are lab-grown diamond at Mohs 10 — the hardest gemstone material. Handles daily wear excellently, isn't prone to chipping. Suitable for active lifestyles and indefinite daily wear. Ultrasonic cleaning is safe for the diamonds.
Can I get this in yellow or rose gold, or 18K?
Yes — solid 14K white gold (default), 14K yellow gold, or 14K rose gold on request. 18K upgrades available at additional cost. White gold preserves the cool classical art deco palette; yellow reads warm vintage; rose softens to romantic. Message us before ordering.
Is there a matching wedding band?
Yes — a matching wedding band can be custom made to order. Message us before ordering. The ring also stacks well with a plain thin band, a pavé/eternity band that echoes the halo, or a vintage-style milgrain band that echoes the art deco detailing.
How does engraving work?
Complimentary engraving up to 16 characters is included. Specify the text at checkout or message us before ordering. Engraving is interior (inside the band).
How long until my ring ships?
Made to order — please allow 3–6 weeks to be handmade for you. Requested modifications (different metal, 18K upgrade, larger diamond, natural mined diamond upgrade, engraving, custom sizing, matching band) are subject to revised production timelines and pricing. The IGI certification process is included in the timeline.
Do I need a separate appraisal?
The included IGI certificate documents the diamond's 4Cs and confirms lab-grown origin, typically sufficient for jewelry insurance underwriting. If you want a separate independent monetary valuation appraisal (estimating retail replacement value, distinct from the IGI gemological grading), that's available at checkout. Most buyers don't need both; the IGI certificate alone satisfies most insurance requirements.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. Lab-grown diamond has no mining footprint and is fully traceable from controlled-lab origin. Natural mined diamond upgrade options sourced from ethical conflict-free origins.
What's included in the box?
The ring, the IGI certificate and unique serial number for the center stone, a free luxury velvet jewelry box, and a care card. Free USA shipping.
