Solid 14K yellow gold — the heirloom tier
This is the solid 14K yellow gold version of our Celtic vine aquamarine engagement ring. "Solid gold" means the entire ring is gold alloy throughout, not gold plated or gold filled — there's no sterling silver core, no base metal. 14K yellow gold is gold alloyed with copper and silver to produce the warm classical yellow tone, hard enough for daily wear, and built to last indefinitely.
The practical difference: a solid 14K gold ring is built to last a lifetime. It doesn't need replating, doesn't wear through, and holds resale and inheritance value in a way that lighter constructions don't. This is the version you choose when you want the engagement ring to outlast you — not just for the duration of the marriage, but for generations after.
About the natural aquamarine
The center stone is a natural mined aquamarine — formed underground over millions of years, mined from the earth, then cut and polished into the marquise shape you see here. Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family (the same mineral family as emerald and morganite) with a hardness of 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale and the natural soft blue-aqua tone that gives the gemstone its name ("aqua marina" or "water of the sea" in Latin).
Most natural aquamarine in the fine jewelry market — including the stone in this ring — is heat-treated at low temperatures to deepen the blue tone and eliminate any residual green undertone. This is the industry standard for aquamarine, has been for decades, is entirely permanent and stable, and does not affect the stone's durability or value. The rough material itself is genuine natural aquamarine; the treatment only refines the color toward the preferred sea-blue rather than the slightly greener tone of untreated rough.
Important distinction: natural aquamarine is a different category from lab-grown aquamarine (real aquamarine grown in a lab — also offered in our vermeil version of this design) and from simulated aquamarine (different stone material that looks similar). Natural mined aquamarine is the heirloom-tier center stone — same chemistry as lab-grown, same hardness, but with the inherent value premium of a stone that was mined rather than grown.
About the marquise cut
The marquise (or navette) cut is an elongated oval with pointed ends — one of the oldest fancy stone shapes in jewelry, dating to the 18th century and originally cut for Louis XV. Worn vertically as set here, the marquise elongates the finger visually and gives the stone more upright presence than a round or oval cut of the same carat weight would. The pointed ends echo the lotus petal shapes that frame the setting, creating a unified botanical silhouette across the entire ring.
About the moissanite accents
The small accent stones tucked into the points of the lotus framework are moissanite — silicon carbide, originally discovered in meteorite fragments and now grown in laboratories for jewelry use. Moissanite has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale (between sapphire at 9 and diamond at 10), excellent durability for daily wear, and a refractive index slightly higher than diamond, giving it more fire (rainbow flash) than a similarly sized diamond.
Important distinction: moissanite is not a diamond, not a simulated diamond, and not a lab-grown diamond. It's its own distinct gemstone — real moissanite with its own optical and physical properties. It's the most popular non-diamond engagement ring stone because of how closely it resembles diamond visually (often more brilliant) and how dramatically more accessible it is at scale. We use it on this solid gold tier because it pairs the heirloom positioning of solid gold with accent stones that hold up genuinely well over a lifetime of daily wear.
If you'd prefer the same design with lab-grown diamond or natural diamond accents instead of moissanite, message us before ordering for a custom quote.
About the Celtic knot vine band
Both shoulders of the band carry open metalwork in a Celtic knot pattern flowing into a twisted vine that wraps toward the center setting. The Celtic knot is one of the oldest decorative motifs in jewelry — interwoven strands that loop back on themselves with no beginning or end, traditionally read as a symbol of eternity, continuity, and unbroken love. It's been used in Celtic engagement and wedding jewelry for over a thousand years.
The twisted vine layered into the design adds the nature-inspired/fairycore character — the band reads less like architectural metalwork and more like vines growing wild around the central flower. In solid 14K yellow gold, the Celtic knot openwork reads with more substantial weight and presence than the same pattern in vermeil — the metal's density gives the open scrollwork a fuller, heirloom feel on the finger.
About the lotus and butterfly framework
The setting frame around the center aquamarine is built from sculpted yellow-gold scrollwork that reads as a lotus flower in profile — petal-shaped metalwork at the apex (top of the setting) and at the base, with smaller wing-like elements flanking the center stone at 3 and 9 o'clock. Depending on how you look at it, the silhouette also reads as butterfly wings folded around the stone, or as a stylized fleur-de-lis frame. The intentional ambiguity is part of the design's fairycore character — botanical motifs that don't commit to one specific reading.
Moissanite accent stones are set at the points of the framework: one at the apex, one at the base, and pairs tucked into the wing-like elements at the shoulders. The bright sparkle of moissanite around the soft aqua center stone creates the ring's signature contrast between the cool blue and the warm gold-and-white-flash combination.
Customization and engraving
This ring is made to order. Several customization options are available:

Because the ring is made to order, please allow 2–6 weeks from order to ship. Requested modifications may extend the production timeline and adjust pricing.
How to wear it
This ring was built primarily as an engagement ring, but its versatility extends beyond that:
- Engagement ring — the primary role, especially for buyers drawn to fairycore, elven, Celtic, nature-inspired, or fantasy-bridal aesthetics rather than the standard white-diamond solitaire. The solid 14K gold tier elevates the design to unmistakable heirloom status
- Promise ring — solid gold construction and a natural mined center stone give it the full weight of a lifetime commitment piece
- March birthstone ring — aquamarine is the traditional March birthstone, making this a natural birthday or anniversary piece for a March birthday
- 19th anniversary ring — aquamarine is also the traditional 19th wedding anniversary stone
- Right-hand statement ring — for buyers who already have an engagement ring but want a fairycore-Celtic heirloom piece for the right hand
For an engagement ring pairing, the ring stacks beautifully with a curved or chevron contour wedding band — match in solid 14K yellow gold for a unified Celtic-themed heirloom bridal stack, or contrast with solid white gold or rose gold for a deliberate two-tone look.

Sizing & care
True to size and comfort-fit. Sizing can vary slightly between jewelers and mandrels — up to half a size — so if you've been sized recently elsewhere, check our sizing guide before ordering or message us for a complimentary ring sizer. If your size isn't in the dropdown, message us before ordering and we'll quote it.
For care, treat the ring like the heirloom piece it is: remove before swimming, cleaning, gardening, weightlifting, or applying lotions and perfumes. Avoid impact on hard surfaces — the pointed ends of the marquise cut are the most vulnerable part of the stone and can chip on a sharp knock. Clean with warm water and a soft brush; skip ultrasonic cleaners on the prong settings. A soft jewelry cloth keeps the yellow gold tone bright. The open Celtic knot metalwork has some natural give and small spaces that can collect lotion, dust, and skin oils over time — periodic gentle cleaning with a soft toothbrush in warm soapy water keeps the openwork pattern crisp.
Frequently asked questions
Is this ring solid gold or gold plated?
Solid 14K yellow gold throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core. The entire ring is gold alloy. Solid gold is the heirloom-tier construction: built to last a lifetime, never needs replating, holds resale and inheritance value, and the metal's density gives the Celtic vine openwork more substantial weight on the finger than the vermeil version.
What's the difference between this and the sterling silver vermeil version?
Same design, three meaningful upgrades: (1) the center stone goes from lab-grown aquamarine to natural mined aquamarine, (2) the accent stones go from CZ to moissanite (a real gemstone with diamond-comparable hardness and brilliance), and (3) the metal goes from sterling silver vermeil to solid 14K yellow gold. Each upgrade adds material value and longevity — together they make this the full heirloom configuration.
Is the aquamarine natural?
Yes — it's a genuine natural mined aquamarine, formed underground over millions of years and mined from the earth. Same beryl mineral family as emerald and morganite, hardness 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale, natural soft blue-aqua color.
Is the aquamarine heat-treated?
Yes — like virtually all aquamarine in the fine jewelry market, the stone has been heat-treated at low temperatures to deepen the blue tone and eliminate any residual green undertone. This is the industry standard for aquamarine, has been for decades, is entirely permanent and stable, and does not affect the stone's durability or value. Untreated natural aquamarine is rare in the market and available on request at additional cost for buyers who specifically want a no-treatment stone.
Is moissanite a diamond?
No — moissanite is its own distinct gemstone (silicon carbide), not a diamond, not a lab-grown diamond, and not a simulated diamond. It has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale (between sapphire at 9 and diamond at 10) and excellent durability for daily wear. Visually it's often mistaken for diamond because of its high refractive index and brilliance — moissanite actually has more fire (rainbow flash) than diamond, which some buyers prefer. It's a real gemstone with its own physical and optical properties, originally discovered in meteorite fragments and now grown in laboratories for jewelry use.
What's the difference between moissanite, lab-grown diamond, and CZ?
Three different stones. Moissanite is silicon carbide — a real gemstone with hardness 9.25, more fire than diamond, originally found in meteorites. Lab-grown diamond is actual diamond (same chemistry, same hardness 10), grown in a laboratory. CZ (cubic zirconia) is a simulated diamond — a different material entirely (zirconium dioxide), hardness 8.5, less brilliant than either moissanite or diamond. This ring uses moissanite accents. The sterling silver vermeil version of this design uses CZ accents.
Can I upgrade the accent stones to lab-grown or natural diamond?
Yes. Message us before ordering and we can quote lab-grown diamond or natural diamond accents in place of the moissanite. Moissanite is the standard choice on this solid gold tier because it pairs the heirloom positioning of solid gold with accent stones that visually rival diamond at a fraction of the cost — but for buyers who want the cultural significance or resale value of diamond specifically, the upgrade pathway is open.
Can I get the center stone as untreated natural aquamarine?
Yes, on request at additional cost. Untreated natural aquamarine is rare in the market and tends to show a slightly greener tone than heat-treated stones. If color authenticity matters to you specifically, message us before ordering and we can source an untreated stone for the same Celtic vine setting.
Can I get this in 14K white or rose gold instead?
Yes — both are available on request at the same construction. White gold pairs especially cleanly with cool aquamarine for a "ice queen" celestial read; rose gold creates a warm romantic contrast against the cool aqua. 18K upgrades (yellow, white, or rose) are also available at additional cost. Message us before ordering.
How does engraving work?
Complimentary engraving up to 16 characters is included. You can specify the text at checkout or message us with the engraving details before ordering. Engraving is interior (inside the band), which is the standard placement for engagement ring engravings.
How big is the center aquamarine?
Approximately 0.7–1.0 carat marquise cut. Marquise cuts spread the stone's apparent size along the length of the finger, so the visual presence reads taller than the actual carat weight suggests. The lotus framework around it adds visible size to the overall setting footprint.
How durable is aquamarine for daily wear?
Aquamarine sits at 7.5–8 on the Mohs hardness scale — durable enough for daily wear, harder than most colored gemstones (softer than sapphire but harder than opal, moonstone, or pearl). The pointed ends of the marquise cut are the most vulnerable part of the stone and can chip on a sharp knock. With sensible care, aquamarine holds up beautifully as an engagement ring stone for decades.
How durable is moissanite for daily wear?
Excellent. Moissanite has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale — second only to diamond among commonly used gemstones, harder than sapphire, harder than emerald, harder than aquamarine. It's one of the most durable choices for daily-wear accent stones, with no risk of clouding or fading over time.
What does the Celtic knot symbolize?
The Celtic knot is interwoven strands that loop back on themselves with no beginning or end — traditionally read as a symbol of eternity, continuity, and unbroken love. It's been used in Celtic engagement and wedding jewelry for over a thousand years. The lotus framework adds nature-inspired and rebirth/renewal symbolism layered on top.
Why pair aquamarine with yellow gold?
Yellow gold against aquamarine is one of the most flattering metal-and-stone pairings in fine jewelry. The warm gold tone makes the soft cool aqua-blue pop without competing with it. Yellow gold also suits the Celtic vine + lotus framework particularly well — traditional Celtic jewelry was historically yellow gold, so the design family and metal tone reinforce each other.
How long until my ring ships?
The ring is made to order, with a 2–6 week production timeline. Requested modifications (different metal, custom engraving, gemstone upgrades, untreated stone sourcing, custom sizing) may extend the timeline. We'll confirm production timing when your order is placed.
Should I add the appraisal?
The optional appraisal is recommended if you plan to insure the ring or want an independent valuation document for your records. Most insurance providers require a written appraisal to schedule the ring on a jewelry policy. The appraisal cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed, so add it at checkout only if you know you'll use it.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. The natural aquamarine is ethically sourced and conflict-free. The moissanite accents are lab-grown synthetic stones with no mining footprint.
What's included in the box?
The ring, a free luxury velvet jewelry box, and a care card. Free USA shipping.
