Important: One-of-a-Kind Stone Variation
Every moonstone in this listing is a natural untreated raw stone with inclusions. This means the color, blue sheen intensity, internal pattern, and visible inclusions will vary from stone to stone — no two pieces are identical, and your stone will not look exactly like the photographs.
The photographs show a representative example. Your stone will share the same general character — translucent body with cool blue adularescence (the moving sheen of light across the stone's surface), pear cut, and visible natural inclusions — but the specific pattern of inclusions, the intensity of the blue flash, and the base color will be unique to your individual stone.
If this matters to you, message us before ordering and we can send photographs of available stones for you to choose from. The raw character is the point of this listing — buyers who want polished/treated/uniform moonstone should look at different listings.
The Engagement Ring
Pear-cut natural raw moonstone center (6×8mm) in a 4-prong claw setting with milgrain bezel detail. Celtic trinity knot metalwork at each shoulder, accented by small round CZ accents at the outer edges of each knot.
The Chevron Contour Band
V-shape chevron silhouette with a Celtic trinity knot at the apex point (pointing down) and graduated CZ accents fanning up each side toward the engagement ring's shoulders. Designed to nest below the engagement ring.
About the natural raw moonstone — and why we chose untreated material
The center stone is real natural moonstone — a variety of orthoclase feldspar with the distinctive optical phenomenon called adularescence (the floating blue sheen of light that appears to glow from within the stone as it moves). The "moon" in moonstone refers exactly to this effect: the way a moon's light appears to drift across the stone's surface as you tilt it in your hand.
This listing specifically uses raw untreated natural moonstone with inclusions. Most commercial moonstone jewelry uses moonstone that has been heat-treated, surface-polished, and clarity-selected to remove inclusions and present a uniform clean appearance. The treatment process produces consistent, gallery-ready stones but removes much of the natural character of the material.
Untreated raw moonstone keeps the natural character intact:
- Visible inclusions: internal fractures, cleavage lines, and mineral inclusions remain visible within the stone. These are not flaws — they're evidence of natural mining origin and the stone's authentic character.
- Variable blue sheen: the adularescence varies across the stone's surface rather than presenting as a single uniform glow. Some areas show stronger blue flash; others show subtler tones; the effect shifts with viewing angle.
- Color variation: the base body color ranges from milky-white through pale blue-grey to slightly translucent depending on the individual stone. Each piece has its own personality rather than matching a standardized aesthetic.
- Surface character: raw moonstone can show subtle natural texture from the original crystal formation rather than the perfectly smooth gallery polish of treated stones.
Why this matters: untreated raw moonstone is the genuine material — the stone the way nature created it. Buyers shopping for natural authenticity, witchy/Pagan/spiritual symbolism, or one-of-a-kind unique pieces specifically prefer raw moonstone over polished commercial moonstone. Buyers who want clean uniform polished stones should look at other listings; this one is built for the authenticity-prioritizing buyer.
About the adularescence (the moonstone "glow")
The cool blue sheen visible in the photographs is real — a physical optical phenomenon called adularescence (named for the type-locality of moonstone, Mount Adular in Switzerland). The effect is produced by light scattering between microscopic layers of two intergrown feldspar minerals (orthoclase and albite) inside the stone. As you tilt the moonstone, the light scatters from different angles, creating the appearance of internal glow that seems to drift across the stone's surface.
Untreated raw moonstone shows authentic adularescence that varies naturally across the stone. Some viewing angles show strong blue flash; others show subtle sheen; the effect is dynamic and lifelike rather than static. This is one of the most distinctive optical effects in any gemstone — and it can't be perfectly replicated in simulated stones, which is part of why authentic moonstone has been treasured for thousands of years.
About the Celtic trinity knot (triquetra) accents
The interlaced metalwork elements at each shoulder of the engagement ring — and at the apex point of the chevron contour band — are Celtic trinity knots, also called triquetras. The triquetra is one of the oldest Celtic symbols, dating back over 1,000 years and appearing in pre-Christian Celtic religious art, the Book of Kells (~800 AD), and later Christian Celtic tradition where it became associated with the Holy Trinity.
The symbolic meaning varies by tradition but converges on the concept of three interconnected forces unified into one: in pre-Christian Celtic tradition, the three aspects of the triple goddess (maiden, mother, crone); in Christian tradition, the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit); in modern Pagan and Wiccan traditions, mind/body/spirit, or the three realms (earth, sea, sky). For an engagement ring, the triquetra reads as three forces becoming one — appropriate for the union of two individuals into a third entity larger than the sum of its parts.
The interlaced line in a triquetra has no beginning and no end — like all Celtic knotwork, it represents endless continuity, eternity, and unbreakable connection. The combination with the moonstone center is particularly resonant for buyers drawn to Pagan, witchy, or Celtic spiritual traditions — moonstone has been associated with the moon goddess in countless traditions for thousands of years, and the triquetra explicitly references the triple goddess.
About the chevron contour band
The matching wedding band uses a V-shape chevron silhouette with a trinity knot at the apex point and graduated CZ accents fanning up each side. The chevron silhouette is one of the classical contour band shapes for pairing with pointed center stones (pear, marquise, kite) — the V-apex points downward, nesting below the engagement ring's center stone rather than rising above it like a tiara band would.
Worn together, the two rings read as a vertically symmetrical composition: the pear moonstone at the upper center, the chevron's trinity knot at the lower apex, and the engagement ring's two shoulder triquetras completing the Celtic-symbolic framework. Worn solo, the contour chevron band is a complete statement V-shape ring with its own Celtic centerpiece.
About the 925 sterling silver
The band is solid 925 sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver throughout, not plated base metal. The cool bright silver tone is the right backdrop for the moonstone's cool blue adularescence: white silver lets the moonstone's blue sheen dominate the visual without warm-metal contamination. Yellow or rose gold against moonstone competes with the cool stone tone; sterling silver supports it.
Genuine 925 sterling silver does not turn skin green; that reaction is associated with low-quality base metals, not real 925. The ring is also nickel-free and hypoallergenic. With standard fine-jewelry care, sterling silver maintains its bright tone indefinitely — periodic polishing with a soft jewelry cloth keeps the silver pure white.
How to wear the set
- Complete bridal set — both rings stacked together as the proposal + wedding set. The engagement ring carries the moonstone center; the chevron band nests below as the wedding band, with the V-apex's trinity knot completing the Celtic-symbolic framework
- Engagement ring solo — proposal piece, with the contour band added at the wedding
- Chevron band solo — worn alone on the right hand or stacked with other bands. The trinity-knot V-apex band is a complete statement contour ring on its own
- June birthstone gift — moonstone is one of the modern June birthstones (alongside pearl and alexandrite). For June birthdays, this set works as a meaningful birthday or graduation gift
- Pagan/Celtic/witchy bridal — the trinity knot symbolism + moonstone (moon goddess association) + Celtic aesthetic register makes this set uniquely well-suited to non-traditional bridal aesthetics including Pagan handfasting, Celtic neo-traditional, witchy bridal, and dark cottagecore
- Anniversary or milestone gift — moonstone has been associated with intuition, new beginnings, and emotional balance across many traditions, making it appropriate for relationship milestones marked by personal or shared growth

Sizing & care
True to size and comfort-fit. If you don't know your size, message us before ordering — we can send a complimentary ring sizer.
Moonstone requires more careful handling than most engagement-ring stones because of its softer Mohs hardness rating (6–6.5) and natural cleavage planes within the stone. The natural raw character of this listing's moonstone means existing internal fractures (the "inclusions" that are part of the stone's authentic character) can be sensitive to impact and thermal shock. Recommended care:
- Remove the ring before swimming, cleaning, gardening, weightlifting, or applying lotions and perfumes
- Avoid impact on hard surfaces — the pear cut's pointed tip is the most vulnerable part of the stone, and the natural inclusion lines can be sensitive to shock
- Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, and harsh chemicals (chlorine, bleach, ammonia) — these can damage the stone's surface and potentially deepen existing inclusion lines
- Avoid extreme temperature changes (don't go from a hot shower to cold outdoor air with the ring on)
- Clean with warm water and a soft cloth or soft brush only
- Store the ring separately from other jewelry so prongs and accent stones don't catch on other pieces
With careful daily wear, the moonstone holds up well. The understanding here matters: the natural raw character of this listing's stones means they require more careful treatment than treated/polished moonstone — but that careful treatment is the trade-off for getting authentic unenhanced material. Buyers who want a moonstone they can wear without thinking should consider treated/polished moonstone listings instead; this listing is for buyers who specifically value the authentic raw character and accept the corresponding care requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Will my moonstone look exactly like the photographs?
No — and we're explicit about this. This listing uses natural raw moonstone with inclusions, which means every stone is one-of-a-kind. The photographs show a representative example. Your stone will share the same general character (translucent body, cool blue adularescence, pear cut, visible natural inclusions) but with its own unique color, sheen intensity, and inclusion pattern. If you want to see specific options before shipping, message us before placing the order and we can send photographs of available stones to choose from.
Why does this listing use raw moonstone with inclusions instead of cleaner stones?
Deliberate choice. Most commercial moonstone jewelry uses heat-treated, surface-polished, clarity-selected moonstone with uniform appearance. The treatment removes much of the stone's natural character. This listing uses untreated raw moonstone specifically because some buyers prefer authentic unenhanced material — for the natural origin, the witchy/Pagan authenticity, the one-of-a-kind individuality, and the visible evidence that the stone is genuine mined material rather than commercialized polished product. If you want clean uniform moonstone, look at our treated moonstone listings; this one is built for the authenticity-prioritizing buyer.
Is the moonstone real?
Yes — real natural mined moonstone, a variety of orthoclase feldspar formed underground over millions of years. This is genuine natural material with the distinctive optical phenomenon (adularescence — the floating blue sheen) that characterizes authentic moonstone. It is not simulated moonstone (glass or opalite made to mimic the appearance), not lab-created moonstone (lab-grown moonstone exists but is rare and we don't use it), and not rainbow moonstone (a different feldspar variety with rainbow rather than blue adularescence).
Is the moonstone treated?
No. This is untreated natural raw moonstone with inclusions intact. No heat treatment, no irradiation, no surface coating, no clarity enhancement, no color enhancement. The stone is the way it came out of the earth, cut and polished into the pear shape but otherwise unenhanced. Untreated moonstone is rarer in the commercial jewelry market because most retailers prefer the cleaner appearance of treated stones.
What is adularescence (the moonstone glow)?
Adularescence is the distinctive floating blue sheen of light visible in moonstone — a real physical optical phenomenon (not a coating or treatment). The effect is produced by light scattering between microscopic layers of two intergrown feldspar minerals (orthoclase and albite) inside the stone. As you tilt the moonstone, light scatters from different angles, creating the appearance of internal glow that drifts across the stone's surface. Named for Mount Adular in Switzerland, the type-locality where moonstone was first studied.
What kind of inclusions will my stone have?
Natural inclusions in moonstone include internal fractures (small line-like patterns inside the stone), cleavage planes (planar lines following the crystal's natural structure), and occasionally tiny mineral inclusions visible as small specks or shapes within the body of the stone. These are characteristic of unenhanced raw moonstone and are not flaws — they're evidence of natural mining origin. The specific pattern varies per stone.
Is moonstone durable enough for daily wear?
Moonstone is softer than most engagement-ring stones (Mohs 6–6.5, similar to opal or peridot, softer than quartz, sapphire, or diamond) and has natural cleavage planes that make it more sensitive to impact than harder stones. With careful daily wear (avoiding impact, ultrasonic cleaning, harsh chemicals, and extreme temperature changes), moonstone holds up well as an engagement ring. The trade-off: untreated raw moonstone is the authentic material, but requires more careful handling than treated harder stones. Buyers who want a wear-it-without-thinking engagement ring should consider sapphire, moissanite, or lab-grown diamond instead.
What does the Celtic trinity knot symbolize?
The triquetra (Celtic trinity knot) is one of the oldest Celtic symbols, dating back over 1,000 years. The symbolic meaning varies by tradition: in pre-Christian Celtic tradition, the three aspects of the triple goddess (maiden/mother/crone); in Christian tradition, the Trinity; in modern Pagan and Wiccan traditions, mind/body/spirit or earth/sea/sky. The common thread across all traditions: three forces unified into one, with the unbroken interlaced line representing endless continuity. The combination with moonstone is particularly resonant for Pagan/witchy/moon-goddess traditions.
What does moonstone symbolize?
Moonstone has been associated with the moon, intuition, emotional balance, feminine energy, new beginnings, and protection during travel for thousands of years across many cultures. In Hindu mythology, moonstone is associated with the moon god Chandra and is considered sacred. In ancient Greek and Roman traditions, moonstone was associated with lunar goddesses Selene, Artemis, and Diana. In modern Pagan and Wiccan traditions, moonstone is associated with the moon goddess and goddess-centered spirituality. The combination with the Celtic triquetra (which often references the triple goddess) creates particularly strong moon-goddess symbolism for buyers drawn to this spiritual tradition.
Are the white accent stones real diamonds?
No — all small white accent stones (at the outer edges of the Celtic knot accents on the engagement ring + the graduated accents on the chevron contour band) are simulated diamond (cubic zirconia/CZ). The natural moonstone center is the real-gemstone focal point. If you'd prefer lab-grown diamond or natural diamond accents on a solid 14K gold custom version of this set, message us before ordering for a custom quote.
How big is the center stone?
6.0 × 8.0 mm pear cut. The pear cut's elongated vertical orientation visually elongates the finger and gives the stone substantial presence on the hand. With the Celtic knot accents on each shoulder, the overall ring face reads as a complete vertical composition rather than a centered solitaire.
Will sterling silver turn my finger green?
No. Genuine 925 sterling silver does not turn skin green. The ring is solid sterling silver throughout. Skin reactions are caused by low-quality base metals, not real 925.
What's included in the set?
Two rings: the pear natural raw moonstone Celtic trinity knot engagement ring and the matching chevron contour band with trinity knot apex. Both are solid 925 sterling silver, and they ship together in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
Can I buy each ring separately?
This listing is the complete two-ring bridal set. If you'd like just the engagement ring solo or just the chevron contour band, message us before ordering and we'll see if individual listings can be arranged.
Will this ring stack with additional plain bands?
Yes. The two-ring set works as a complete bridal stack on its own, but both rings layer cleanly with plain bands, eternity bands, or other shaped rings if you want to build the stack out further over time.
Do you offer this design in solid 14K gold?
Yes — message us before ordering and we can quote a solid 14K white, yellow, or rose gold version of the same design. On the gold version, the CZ accents can be upgraded to lab-grown diamond or natural diamond. The moonstone center stays natural raw moonstone (with the option to select treated/polished moonstone if you prefer cleaner appearance at this tier). The fully upgraded solid 14K gold + lab-grown diamond accents version is the heirloom configuration.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. Natural moonstone is ethically sourced from established moonstone mining regions (India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Myanmar) with verified fair-labor practices. CZ accents are ethically sourced synthetic stones with no mining footprint.
