A three-piece nesting set built around a 5 × 10 mm dark gray moissanite, marquise cut and held north–south in a milgrain frame with marquise accents at each corner. A crown band sits above, a star contour band below, and black onyx marquises flank the center. Solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish.
Dark Gray Moissanite
Marquise Cut, 5 × 10 mm
Three-Piece Nesting Set
Black Onyx Accents
Solid 925 Sterling Silver
Sizes 4–11
Three Rings, One Composition
Crown Band
Sits above the engagement ring. A marquise accent at the peak beneath a cluster of round stones, with marquise and round accents sweeping down each shoulder.
Engagement Ring
The marquise center in a milgrain frame, with marquise accents at the four corners and pavé running along the shoulders.
Star Contour Band
Sits below. Five stars along a curved band, each holding a round accent, tracing the lower point of the frame.
The three nest as one composition but wear perfectly well apart — the engagement ring alone, or the engagement ring with either band. If you are looking past a plain solitaire, our guides to fantasy engagement rings and non-traditional engagement rings map the wider field, and what hand an engagement ring goes on covers the question every stacking set eventually raises.
The Dark Gray Moissanite
Moissanite is silicon carbide, lab-grown, and at 9.25 on the Mohs scale it is harder than every gemstone except diamond. It also has a higher refractive index than diamond, which is why it throws more rainbow fire.
This one is cut in a dark gray — a smoky, storm-cloud tone that holds the brilliance of a clear moissanite while reading almost black at a distance. Against bright rhodium and white accents it is the whole drama of the set. The stone measures 5 × 10 mm and is set north–south, the most elongating orientation, as our guide to marquise engagement rings explains.
Two natural black onyx marquises flank the center on the engagement ring, with a third at the peak of the crown band. Onyx is the classic gothic stone — opaque, evenly black, and a deliberate contrast to the gray fire beside it.
Metal and Stones
All three rings are solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish — the same platinum-group metal used on white gold. The rhodium gives the bright white surface and shields the silver underneath from tarnishing.
The white accents throughout — marquise at the four corners of the frame, pavé along the shoulders, and a round in each star of the contour band — are cubic zirconia. Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order.

Care
Moissanite is 9.25 on the Mohs scale and among the most durable stones available. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid abrasive polishes and chlorine, which wear the rhodium finish, and store the set in its velvet box rather than loose.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the moissanite real?
Yes. Moissanite is a genuine gemstone — silicon carbide — lab-grown rather than mined. It is not a diamond and not a diamond simulant in the cubic zirconia sense; it is its own mineral, harder than everything except diamond.
What does dark gray moissanite look like?
Smoky and storm-colored. It keeps the fire of a clear moissanite but reads close to black from a distance, so it shifts between gray and near-black depending on the light.
Is the black onyx natural?
Yes. The marquise accents flanking the center stone and the stone at the peak of the crown band are natural black onyx.
Are the white accent stones diamonds?
No. They are cubic zirconia. Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order.
What are the rings made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, hallmarked, with a rhodium finish for a bright white surface. No brass or base metal.
Will the silver tarnish?
The rhodium finish acts as a barrier, so the set resists the darkening untreated sterling develops. The finish does wear thin after years of daily wear — we can refinish the rings when it does.
How many rings come in the set?
Three: the engagement ring, the crown band that sits above it, and the star contour band that sits below. All three ship together.
Can I wear the rings separately?
Yes. The engagement ring stands on its own, and either band can be worn with it or alone. The three are designed to nest but not to depend on each other.
How big is the center stone?
5 × 10 mm, set north–south so the length runs along the finger. It is a generous marquise and the milgrain frame makes it read larger still.
Do the three rings sit flush?
Yes — the crown band and star band are both contoured to trace the frame of the engagement ring, so the stack closes without gaps.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 4 through 11, including every half size. All three rings are made to the same size.
Can the rings be resized?
Resizing is possible but limited on a nesting set — the three pieces must stay matched, so we keep adjustments within one size. Resizing starts from $45.
Can I have them engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, and can be added as an option at checkout.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. All Aquamarise stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
