The Design
Two crescent moons turn inward on either side of the center stone, their points meeting the setting like a pair of parentheses. Leaves run outward from them along each shoulder, and round accents sit in the gaps where the metal opens. The band itself is not plain: leaf forms continue down the shank between set stones.
It is a botanical design with a celestial argument in the middle of it — the moons are what keep it from reading as purely floral. The center stone is set north–south so its length runs along the finger, the most elongating orientation, as our guide to marquise engagement rings explains. If you are looking past a plain solitaire, our guides to fairy engagement rings and non-traditional engagement rings map the wider field, and what hand an engagement ring goes on answers the question that always follows.
The Green Tourmaline
Tourmaline is one of the few gemstones that occurs across the entire color spectrum, and the green variety — verdelite — is the one that gave the family its reputation. At 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale it is a practical stone for daily wear.
This one is lab-grown, with the same chemistry and hardness as mined tourmaline in a clear, saturated green. The color sits somewhere between spring leaf and peridot, and it shifts warmer under lamplight.
Tourmaline is an October birthstone alongside opal — our October birthstone guide covers both.
Metal
The ring is solid 925 sterling silver with a rhodium finish — the same platinum-group metal used on white gold. The rhodium gives the bright white surface and shields the silver underneath from tarnishing.
Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order, as is this design in solid 14K gold.

Care
Tourmaline is 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale and suits daily wear with normal care. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam, and avoid abrasive polishes and chlorine, which wear the rhodium finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the tourmaline real?
Yes. It is genuine tourmaline, lab-grown rather than mined — the same chemistry and hardness as the mined stone. The difference is origin, not authenticity.
What shade of green is it?
A clear, saturated green sitting between spring leaf and peridot. It warms slightly under lamplight.
Is tourmaline a birthstone?
Yes — tourmaline is an October birthstone, alongside opal.
Is tourmaline durable enough for an engagement ring?
Yes, with normal care. At 7–7.5 on the Mohs scale it holds up to daily wear; remove it for abrasive work and avoid harsh chemicals.
What is it made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, hallmarked, with a rhodium finish for a bright white surface. No brass or base metal.
Will the silver tarnish?
The rhodium finish acts as a barrier, so it resists the darkening untreated sterling develops. The finish does wear thin after years of daily wear — we can refinish the ring when it does.
What are the crescent shapes beside the stone?
Crescent moons — one on each side, turned inward toward the center stone. They are the celestial half of the design; the leaves running down each shoulder are the botanical half.
Are the white accent stones diamonds?
No. They are cubic zirconia. Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 4 through 11, including every half size.
Can the ring be resized?
Yes. Because the shoulders carry leaf detail and set stones, resizing is best kept within one size of the original. Resizing starts from $45.
Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Not entirely — the accent at the lower point of the center stone leaves a small gap against a straight band. A contour or chevron band will nest more closely.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, and can be added as an option at checkout.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. All Aquamarise stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
