A 6 × 8 mm natural moss agate, marquise cut and set north–south within four veined leaves of blackened metal. Five heart cut accents open across each shoulder, a marquise moss agate finishes each side, and the crown sits on a slim 2 mm band of solid sterling silver in a black ruthenium finish.

The Design
The blackened setting is a deliberate counterpoint. Without bright metal competing for light, the agate's translucence carries the ring, and its dendritic patterning reads clearly against the dark frame.
Four leaves radiate from the center stone, each cut with fine veining. On either shoulder, five heart cut accents open around a single bead in the manner of a blossom, and a marquise moss agate closes each side. The band tapers to 2 mm at the back, keeping the proportion light against the width of the crown. A prong-set cluster like this one suits moss agate particularly well — our guide to the best settings for moss agate engagement rings explains why.
The Moss Agate
Natural moss agate, a translucent chalcedony. Its green tracery is mineral — manganese and iron oxides that crystallized inside the stone as it formed — rather than organic material, despite the name. The stone has a long association with growth and renewal, covered in our piece on moss agate meaning for couples.
The center stone measures 6 × 8 mm, cut as a marquise with softened points and set north–south so its length runs along the finger. It is the most elongating of the classic shapes, as our guide to marquise engagement rings sets out. Patterning varies from stone to stone: yours will share the green character and translucence shown here, with its own arrangement of branching.
Metal and Stones
The ring is solid 925 sterling silver throughout, finished in black ruthenium — a platinum-group metal that settles to a deep gunmetal rather than a flat black, holding just enough reflectivity for the leaf veining to read as texture.
The two marquise side stones are natural moss agate. The twelve white accents — ten heart cut across the shoulders, two round brilliant at the points of the center stone — are cubic zirconia. Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order. If you are weighing this against a traditional center stone, our comparison of moss agate versus diamond engagement rings is a useful starting point.

Care
Moss agate is 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale and suits daily wear with normal care. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam, chlorine and household chemicals, which dull both the stone and the ruthenium finish. Store in the velvet box rather than loose with other jewelry. See our guides to cleaning a moss agate ring and whether you can shower in one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the moss agate natural?
Yes. The center stone and both side stones are natural moss agate. The green tracery is mineral inclusion formed within the stone, not added or treated.
Will my ring match the photographs?
It will share the same green character and translucence. The exact pattern of branching differs from stone to stone, so no two are identical.
Are the accent stones diamonds?
No. They are cubic zirconia. Moissanite or lab-grown diamond accents are available as a custom order.
How dark is the black ruthenium finish?
Ruthenium finishes to a deep gunmetal rather than a flat jet black. The slight reflectivity is what allows the veining on each leaf to remain visible.
What is the ring made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver throughout, with black ruthenium as the surface finish. No brass or base metal.
How large is the center stone?
6 × 8 mm, set north–south so the length runs along the finger.
What is a marquise cut with softened points?
A marquise is an elongated cut with pointed ends. Softening the points — sometimes called a moval — keeps the elongated shape while making the tips less vulnerable to chipping.
Is moss agate suitable for an engagement ring?
Yes, with normal care. At 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale it is comparable to many stones worn daily in fine jewelry.
Can the ring be resized?
Yes. As the shoulders carry stone clusters, resizing is best kept within one size of the original. Resizing starts from $45 and includes refinishing where needed.
Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Not entirely — the accent at the lower point of the center stone leaves a small gap against a straight band. A contour or chevron band will nest more closely.
What does moss agate symbolize?
Moss agate is traditionally associated with growth and abundance, and is sometimes called the gardener's stone.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. All Aquamarise stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
