A two-piece bat ring set in black. A 6 mm trillion-cut lab-grown hot pink sapphire sits at the center, and a wrap band shaped as two outstretched bat wings, each filled with lab-grown pink sapphire pavé, closes around it. Solid 925 sterling silver with a black ruthenium finish.

Two Rings, One Pair of Wings
Trillion Solitaire
A three-prong 6 mm trillion lab-grown pink sapphire, point up, on a straight band set with a line of small round pink sapphires along each shoulder.
Bat Wing Band
A contoured wrap band whose two arms spread into bat wings, ribbed like a membrane and pavé-set from root to tip with round lab-grown sapphires in pink shading to violet.
The wrap band is the bat: two outstretched wings, each ribbed like a real membrane and filled edge to edge with pavé, that pass on either side of the center ring and meet beneath it. The center ring carries the trillion between them with its own line of pavé along the shank. The two rings are shaped to close together, and each one wears well alone. The design sits in the dark-romance lane we cover in gothic wedding rings and black rings for women; for the wider field, non-traditional engagement rings and fantasy engagement rings.
The Pink Sapphire
The center is lab-grown sapphire, grown as corundum with the same chemistry and 9 Mohs hardness as a mined sapphire, in a hot pink that sits between magenta and fuchsia. It is cut as a 6 mm trillion: a triangle with softly bowed sides and a brilliant facet pattern, so it throws light from three directions and reads larger than a round of the same width. The pavé on the wings is lab-grown sapphire as well, graded from the same hot pink out to a violet-pink at the wing tips. Sapphire is the September birthstone.
Our sapphire engagement rings guide covers the stone's durability and how lab-grown compares with mined, and the pink gemstones guide places pink sapphire against the other pink stones.
Metal and Stones
Both rings are solid 925 sterling silver with a black ruthenium finish, a platinum-group metal that settles to a deep gunmetal rather than a flat black. Against it the pink reads hotter and more saturated than it would on polished silver, and the black ribs of the wings disappear into the stones.
Every stone in the set, the trillion center and all of the pavé, is lab-grown sapphire. Lab-grown means grown rather than mined; it is not a simulant.

Care
Sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale, so the stones are the hardest practical choice and the metal finish is the limiting factor. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, working the brush along the wing ribs where pavé collects lotion, then dry before storing. No silver polishing cloths or abrasive compounds, which thin the black ruthenium finish; avoid ultrasonic cleaners and household chemicals for the same reason. Take the set off for the gym, gardening and heavy cleaning. Our engagement ring care guide and how to clean jewelry at home cover the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the sapphire real?
It is lab-grown sapphire: real corundum, chemically and physically the same as a mined sapphire, grown in a lab rather than dug up. It is not a simulant. The 6 mm trillion center and every small round stone on the wings and the shoulders are lab-grown sapphire.
How many rings come in the set?
Two. The trillion solitaire and a wrap band shaped as two bat wings that close around it. Both ship together in one box.
What is a trillion cut?
A triangular brilliant cut with three softly curved sides. It faces up larger than a round stone of the same width and throws light from three directions.
How big is the center stone?
6 mm across, trillion cut, set point up in three prongs.
What shade of pink is it?
A hot pink between magenta and fuchsia at the center, with the pavé on the wings shading out to a violet-pink at the tips.
Is sapphire a birthstone?
Yes. Sapphire is the September birthstone.
Is sapphire hard enough for everyday wear?
Yes. Sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale, harder than everything except diamond and moissanite. The black ruthenium finish, not the stone, is the part to protect.
How dark is the black ruthenium finish?
Ruthenium settles to a deep gunmetal rather than a flat jet black. The slight reflectivity keeps the wing ribs and the pavé legible instead of flattening them into a silhouette.
What are the rings made of?
Solid 925 sterling silver with a black ruthenium finish. No brass or base metal.
Can I wear the rings separately?
Yes. The center ring stands on its own as a trillion solitaire with a pavé band, and the wing band wears alone as a bat ring.
Do the two rings sit flush?
Yes. The two wings of the wrap band are shaped to sit on either side of the center ring, so the set closes together without a gap.
What sizes are available?
Sizes 4 through 11, including every half size. Both rings are made to the same size.
Can I have them engraved?
Yes. Engraving is available on the inner band, up to 16 characters, and can be added as an option at checkout.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. All Aquamarise stones are conflict-free and responsibly sourced, and every order arrives in a free luxury velvet jewelry box.
