For care, the ring has two stone types with different durability profiles. The ruby center sits at Mohs 9 — one of the most durable engagement ring stones available, second only to diamond. The black onyx accents sit at Mohs 6.5–7, comparable to moss agate; softer and require more careful handling. Across both: avoid impact on hard surfaces, harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, and extreme temperature changes (the heat-treatment process leaves onyx more sensitive to thermal shock).
