Solid 14K white gold — the heirloom tier
This is the solid 14K white gold version of our kite moss agate engagement ring. "Solid gold" means the entire ring is gold alloy throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core, no rhodium finish layer. 14K white gold is gold alloyed with palladium and other white metals to produce the cool bright white tone, hard enough for daily wear, and built to last indefinitely.
The practical difference vs the sterling silver version: a solid 14K white gold ring is built to last a lifetime. It doesn't need replating, doesn't wear through, and holds resale and inheritance value in a way that lighter constructions don't. This is the version you choose when you want the engagement ring to outlast you — not just for the duration of the marriage, but for generations after. The white-metal palette is preserved from the silver version (so the green moss-and-emerald color story stays consistent), but the underlying material is dramatically more substantial.
About the lab-grown emerald accents
The green accent stones arranged in leaf-cluster vines at each side of the kite center are real lab-grown emeralds. This is the most meaningful upgrade from our sterling silver version, which uses simulated emerald (CZ or synthetic spinel colored green to look like emerald). Lab-grown emerald is actually emerald — the same beryl mineral (same chemistry as natural mined emerald, same hardness of 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale, same optical properties) — grown in a controlled laboratory environment over months rather than mined from the earth.
The visual difference between simulated and lab-grown emerald is subtle but real: lab-grown emerald has the same natural color saturation, depth, and slight inclusion-pattern character ("jardin," the French word for the garden-like inclusions natural emeralds typically show) as natural mined emerald, because it's the same material. Simulated emerald is bright and consistent but lacks the genuine emerald gemstone character. For an heirloom-tier engagement ring, the lab-grown emerald upgrade is what makes this listing a "real-stones-throughout" piece.
The leaf arrangement is the same as the silver version: marquise-cut lab-grown emeralds dominate (echoing leaf silhouettes), with small round lab-grown emeralds anchoring the descent like buds along a vine. The clusters read as forest vines growing out from each side of the central agate "window," now in genuine emerald rather than green simulant.
About the natural moss agate
The center stone is genuine natural moss agate — a variety of chalcedony quartz (silicon dioxide), translucent milky-white to clear in base body color, with characteristic green dendritic inclusions that look like ferns or moss frozen inside the stone. The "moss" isn't actually plant material — it's mineral inclusions of manganese and iron oxide that crystallized in branching fractal patterns during the stone's formation millions of years ago.
Moss agate sits at 7 on the Mohs hardness scale — same as most quartz varieties, harder than opal or moonstone, durable enough for daily wear as an engagement ring with sensible care. Each stone is genuinely one-of-a-kind: the moss patterns vary completely from stone to stone, with some leaning toward dense forest-floor patterns, others showing more open watercolor washes of green, and others featuring distinct fern-like branching structures.
If you have a preference (denser moss vs lighter patterns, darker greens vs lighter sage tones, more clear vs more milky base), message us before ordering and we can send photos of available stones to choose from.
About the kite cut
The kite cut is a modern geometric stone shape — a four-sided diamond/rhombus outline with two short edges at the top and two longer edges descending to a point at the bottom (or, set as here, with the point oriented down for visual elongation of the finger). Kite cuts have become a signature of alternative bridal jewelry over the last several years, especially in raw and inclusion-rich stones (moss agate, salt-and-pepper diamond, rutilated quartz, herkimer) where the angular geometric outline contrasts beautifully with the organic stone interior.
At 7.0 × 10.0 mm and approximately 1.4 carats, the kite center reads substantial — the elongated diamond silhouette draws the eye vertically along the finger. The kite cut pairs especially cleanly with the moss agate's organic interior: the geometric outline contains the wild internal pattern in a way that makes the moss inside read more deliberately as "captured forest" rather than chaotic mineral inclusions.
About the nature-inspired leaf and vine framework
The setting framework reads as a botanical study — the kite-cut moss agate at the center, with lab-grown emerald leaf-cluster vines flowing organically from each side of the band's shoulders. The leaf and vine motif has been used in nature-inspired bridal jewelry for centuries, but the specific arrangement here (marquise leaves descending in clusters from a kite-cut center) is a distinctly modern interpretation. The asymmetric flow from each side prevents the design from reading as too symmetrical or precious — it captures the slight wildness of actual growing vines rather than ornamental botanical patterns.
The visual story across the whole ring: moss inside the agate, real emerald leaves and vines outside the agate, all in shades of green against white gold. A single coherent forest-themed heirloom engagement ring with all real stones (natural moss agate center + lab-grown emerald accents).

How to wear it
This ring was built primarily as an engagement ring, but its versatility extends beyond that:
- Engagement ring — the primary role, especially for buyers drawn to nature-inspired, witchy, forest, cottagecore, or alternative bridal aesthetics rather than the standard white-diamond solitaire. The solid 14K gold tier elevates the design to unmistakable heirloom status
- Promise ring — solid gold construction and real-stones-throughout give the ring the full weight of a lifetime commitment piece
- Anniversary or milestone heirloom gift — moss agate symbolizes growth, harmony, and balance; emerald is the traditional 20th and 35th wedding anniversary stone. The combination makes this set especially appropriate for major anniversaries or generational gifts
- May birthstone ring — emerald is the traditional May birthstone, layering an additional gift-occasion symbolism onto the design
- Right-hand statement ring — for buyers drawn to nature-inspired aesthetics who want a forest-themed heirloom piece
For an engagement ring pairing, the ring stacks beautifully with a curved or chevron contour wedding band — the kite shape's angled shoulders give a contour band natural nesting points. Match in solid 14K white gold for a unified heirloom stack, or contrast with solid yellow gold or rose gold contour bands for a deliberate two-tone bridal look.

Sizing & care
Standard sizes 3–10 (US) available in the dropdown. Larger and smaller sizes are available on request — message us before ordering. Half and quarter sizes available. Sizing can vary slightly between jewelers and mandrels — up to half a size — so if you've been sized recently elsewhere, check our sizing guide before ordering or message us for a complimentary ring sizer.
For care, treat the ring like the heirloom piece it is: remove before swimming, cleaning, gardening, weightlifting, or applying lotions and perfumes. Avoid impact on hard surfaces — the angled corners of the kite cut and the point at the bottom of the moss agate are the most vulnerable parts of the stone and can chip on a sharp knock. Emerald (lab-grown and natural alike) is softer than sapphire and has its own care considerations: avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam cleaners on emerald, as the inclusion patterns can be sensitive to vibration and heat. Clean with warm water and a soft brush only. Solid 14K white gold doesn't need replating and holds its tone indefinitely with normal wear.
Frequently asked questions
Is this ring solid gold or gold plated?
Solid 14K white gold throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core, no rhodium finish layer. The entire ring is white gold alloy. Solid gold is the heirloom-tier construction: built to last a lifetime, never needs replating, holds resale and inheritance value.
What's the difference between this and the sterling silver version?
Same design, two meaningful upgrades: (1) the metal goes from sterling silver with rhodium finish to solid 14K white gold throughout, and (2) the green accent stones go from simulated emerald (CZ or synthetic spinel colored green) to real lab-grown emerald — actual beryl, same chemistry and hardness as natural mined emerald, just grown in a controlled lab. Together these upgrades make this the full heirloom-tier configuration with real stones throughout (natural moss agate + lab-grown emerald + solid gold).
Are the emeralds real?
Yes — the side accent stones on this ring are real lab-grown emeralds. Lab-grown emerald is genuine emerald (beryl, the same mineral family as aquamarine and morganite, with the same chemical composition, same hardness of 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale, and same optical properties as natural mined emerald) — the only difference is that the crystal was grown under controlled laboratory conditions rather than mined from the earth. It is not a simulated stone, not CZ, not synthetic spinel.
What's the difference between lab-grown emerald and natural emerald?
Both are real emerald — same chemistry, same hardness, same color, same optical properties. The only difference is where the crystal grew: lab-grown emerald is created in a controlled laboratory environment over months; natural emerald forms underground over millions of years. Visually they're often indistinguishable. The differences in practice: lab-grown is significantly more accessible at this carat size, has more consistent color, and has full traceability with no mining footprint. Natural emerald commands a price premium for the inherent rarity of mined origin. Both wear and care the same way.
What's the difference between lab-grown emerald and simulated emerald?
Completely different categories. Lab-grown emerald is real emerald — actual beryl mineral, grown in a controlled lab. Simulated emerald is a different material entirely (usually green-colored CZ or synthetic spinel) made to look like emerald. The sterling silver version of this design uses simulated emerald accents; this solid 14K white gold version uses real lab-grown emerald accents. The upgrade matters: lab-grown emerald reads as genuine emerald visually and is genuine emerald materially, while simulated is the visual stand-in.
Can I upgrade to natural mined emerald instead?
Yes. Lab-grown emerald is the default at this heirloom tier because it pairs the durability and color of real emerald with significantly more accessible pricing than natural mined emerald at this carat size. If you want natural mined emerald accents specifically — for the cultural significance or for resale value — message us before ordering and we'll quote the upgrade.
Is the moss agate real?
Yes — it's a genuine natural mined moss agate, formed underground over millions of years. Moss agate is a variety of chalcedony quartz with natural mineral inclusions of manganese and iron oxide that crystallized in branching fractal patterns. The "moss" inside the stone isn't actually plant material — it's mineral dendrites that happen to look like ferns or moss. Hardness 7 on the Mohs scale.
Will my stone look exactly like the photos?
Similar in character, but not identical in pattern. Each moss agate is a natural one-of-a-kind stone with its own unique distribution of dendritic inclusions. Your stone will share the same general moss-agate character but with its own unique pattern distribution. Message us before ordering if you have a preference for denser moss vs lighter patterns, darker greens vs sage tones, or more clear vs milky base — we can send photos of available stones to choose from.
Why kite cut?
The kite cut is a modern geometric stone shape, signature of alternative bridal jewelry, especially in raw and inclusion-rich stones like moss agate. The angular geometric outline contains the wild organic interior of the moss agate in a way that reads as deliberately framed rather than chaotic. The kite cut also pairs cleanly with curved/contour wedding bands because the angled shoulders create natural nesting points.
How big is the center stone?
7.0 × 10.0 mm kite cut, approximately 1.4 carats. The elongated kite gives the stone visible height on the finger — it reads taller than a comparable round or oval would. The lab-grown emerald leaf-cluster framework adds visible size to the overall setting footprint.
How durable is moss agate for daily wear?
Moss agate sits at 7 on the Mohs hardness scale — same as most quartz varieties, harder than opal or moonstone, but softer than sapphire (9) or diamond (10). Durable enough for daily wear with sensible care. The angled corners of the kite cut and the point at the bottom are the most vulnerable parts of the stone.
How durable is lab-grown emerald?
Emerald sits at 7.5–8 on the Mohs hardness scale — slightly harder than moss agate, comparable to aquamarine (same beryl mineral family). Durable for daily wear, but emerald has its own care considerations regardless of whether it's lab-grown or natural mined: avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam cleaners, as the natural inclusion patterns in emerald can be sensitive to vibration and heat. Clean with warm water and a soft brush only. The lab-grown emerald accents are protected within the leaf-cluster setting and hold up well to daily wear with normal care.
What does moss agate symbolize?
In metaphysical and energy traditions, moss agate is associated with growth, renewal, abundance, harmony with nature, and emotional balance. Called the "gardener's stone" for its connection to the natural world. Combined with emerald (traditionally associated with love, hope, and rebirth, the May birthstone, the 20th and 35th anniversary stone), the symbolic combination on this ring is uniquely layered — growth + love + rebirth.
How does engraving work?
Complimentary engraving up to 16 characters is included. You can specify the text at checkout or message us with the engraving details before ordering. Engraving is interior (inside the band), the standard placement for engagement ring engravings.
Can I get this in 14K yellow or rose gold instead?
Yes — both are available on request at the same construction. Yellow gold against the moss-and-emerald palette creates a warm-vs-cool contrast that reads as more vintage-romantic; rose gold reads as soft-romantic; white gold (this listing default) keeps the green palette uncontaminated by warm metal tones. 18K upgrades (yellow, white, or rose) are also available at additional cost. Message us before ordering.
How long until my ring ships?
Made to order, 2–6 week production timeline. Modifications (different metal, custom engraving, natural emerald upgrade, custom sizing, alternative center stone) may extend the timeline. We'll confirm production timing when your order is placed.
Should I add the appraisal?
The optional appraisal is recommended if you plan to insure the ring or want an independent valuation document for your records. Most insurance providers require a written appraisal to schedule the ring on a jewelry policy. The appraisal cost is non-refundable once the work has been performed, so add it at checkout only if you know you'll use it.
Are the stones ethically sourced?
Yes. The natural moss agate is ethically sourced and conflict-free. The lab-grown emerald accents require no mining and are fully traceable from origin.
What's included in the box?
The ring, a free luxury velvet jewelry box, and a care card. Free USA shipping.
