"Solid gold" means the entire ring is gold alloy throughout — no plating, no gold-filled construction, no sterling silver core, no rhodium finish layer. 14K white gold is gold alloyed with palladium and other white metals to produce the cool bright white tone, hard enough for daily wear, and built to last indefinitely.

The practical difference vs the sterling silver version: a solid 14K white gold ring is built to last a lifetime. It doesn't need replating, doesn't wear through, and holds resale and inheritance value in a way that lighter constructions don't. The white-metal palette is preserved from the silver version (so the green moss-and-emerald color story stays consistent), but the underlying material is dramatically more substantial.

This is the most meaningful upgrade from our sterling silver version, which uses simulated emerald (CZ or synthetic spinel colored green to look like emerald). Simulated emerald is bright and consistent but lacks the genuine emerald gemstone character. About the natural moss agate

The center stone is genuine natural moss agate — a variety of chalcedony quartz (silicon dioxide), translucent milky-white to clear in base body color, with characteristic green dendritic inclusions that look like ferns or moss frozen inside the stone. The "moss" isn't actually plant material — it's mineral inclusions of manganese and iron oxide that crystallized in branching fractal patterns during the stone's formation millions of years ago.

Moss agate sits at 7 on the Mohs hardness scale — same as most quartz varieties, harder than opal or moonstone, durable enough for daily wear as an engagement ring with sensible care. For care, treat the ring like the heirloom piece it is: remove before swimming, cleaning, gardening, weightlifting, or applying lotions and perfumes. Avoid impact on hard surfaces — the angled corners of the kite cut and the point at the bottom of the moss agate are the most vulnerable parts of the stone and can chip on a sharp knock. Emerald (lab-grown and natural alike) is softer than sapphire and has its own care considerations: avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam cleaners on emerald, as the inclusion patterns can be sensitive to vibration and heat. Clean with warm water and a soft brush only. Solid 14K white gold doesn't need replating and holds its tone indefinitely with normal wear.
